PCB trace wiggle antenna

PCB trace wiggle antenna

PCB trace wiggle antenna

(OP)
Hi All,

I would like to learn to design a PCB trace wiggle antenna.  Does anybody know a good source of reference?  Can anyone point me to the right direction?   I have access to Eagleware simulation tool.

Thanks

RE: PCB trace wiggle antenna

Never heard of it, where did you get your initial reference info?

I would expect that the antenna is fairly long if you just plan to wiggle a line that radiates a little at each bend.

I've seen something like that but requires stripline with one feed line and an outer groundplane that has a wiggled slot in it.

A cypress semiconductor design it in the transceiver module and they called wiggle antenna.

RE: PCB trace wiggle antenna

Do you mean a meander line antenna?

Hi Comcokid,

No it is not a meander line antenna.  See Higgler description.  Does anyone know a good reference?

Hi Comcokid,

Sorry about my previous reply. It looks like the meander line antenna.  Do you know anything about this antenna?

RE: PCB trace wiggle antenna

I looked at the Cypress website, they give dimensions. The antenna is a meanderline PIFA antenna whose wiggled line exit the ground plane. It's like a monopole with a short circuit. They meander it to shrink it.
Research PIFA antennas and you'll find that design.
