Dimensioning in PS and Zoom in Model

Dimensioning in PS and Zoom in Model

Dimensioning in PS and Zoom in Model

(OP)
Hi,
I have the next problem and maybe somebody can tell me how to solve:
I have all the geometry for a part in Model and all the dimensioning in PS, the problem is that I need to re-arrange the views in order to add more details, I am doing this zooming in/out the model into the PS, doing this only is affecting the geometry but not the dimensioning that is attached to it.
Is there a way that the dimensioning follow the geometry at the time to zoom in or out the model in PS?

Any help will be great...thanks!

RE: Dimensioning in PS and Zoom in Model

Hi mrr1671,

of course can you move the modellspace and the dims will follow. You must not click inside the viewport and pan/zoom with the mouse.
1st the dims have to be associative.
2nd you have to use the commands "_pan" and "_zoom" inside the viewport.

Q: Why do you make the dims in the paperspacce? Do you have a lot of scales?

RE: Dimensioning in PS and Zoom in Model

I agree that dimensions belong in paper space.  Emphatically.    Everything said below assumes your are in a layout and paper space.  When I zoom and pan around inside a viewport using the commands pan or zoom or using the mouse, my dimensions follow the model objects.  Even if I pan beyond the viewport borders, the dimensions follow.  When I change the viewport scale factor to zoom in on an object, the dimensions follow.  Stretching or moving objects updates the dimensions.  Key 1: what version of Autocad.?  Key 2: the variable DimAssoc must be set to 2.  Key 3: you must snap the dimension control points to objects in the viewport ON the model.  Key 4: 3-D objects do not work consistently (my experience only).  Key 5:  changing the viewport's UCS can mess up a dimension (my experience only)

I just want to thank you for all your help, your advices help me to solve my problem, I have finished the drawings.

I am using the Autocad Mechanical 2004 and the company standards say that only geometry is to be in the Model, everything else should be in Paperspace.

Thank you very much...
