Using Thermal Study Results in Stress Test
Using Thermal Study Results in Stress Test
(OP)
Hi all, I have a quick question that may or may not require a quick answer. In any case, I appreciate any participation.
I am currently working with a c-clamp assembly in COSMOSDesignSTAR 2006 and am having some trouble working my Thermal Stress Analysis into a seperate Static Study.
Basically, I have a c-clamp that will be applying a 200 lb force on one of our test fixtures (a solid brass block in the assy). The clamp is made of two parts... The threaded shaft (alloy steel) and the c portion of the clamp (grey cast iron). Pretty simple.
My work flow is as follows... I set up the materials for each component, apply the requisite restraints, and apply a 200 lb force to both the mating face of the threaded bolt and to the anvil face of the c. I create a mesh and... Well, that's where I'm stuck! How to I use a seperate thermal study in this study? Sorry, i don't have more specifics but it's been a while since I've used COSMOS and I'm pretty green.
Thanks for your help.

RE: Using Thermal Study Results in Stress Test
Start a second study, and then right click on it, then click properties, which should open the study properties window. Click the flow/thermal effects tab and then use the button that will include the temperature effects from study 1.
Not sure if I explained this well and if it would apply to DesignStar, but it may be worth a try. Good luck.
