Information about satellite
(OP)
Hi, I have one comstar satellite Model SX8.5 2.5 diameter and I installed in Nigeria delta state area near Kwale but I did not receive any signal. The receiver and cable was checked with another adjusted antenna it works. Also I changed the LNB twice but not succeded. So pls could you send me an information about the installation of that sat mesh, reflector, dimension, LNB position vertical or Horizental, how much far from the focus or any web site has this information. Also pls in my region whose sat can I catched and positions of them.
Many thanks.
Many thanks.

You'll also need a satellite angle calculator to determine the angles for aiming. Here is a general link:

Aiming is much easier with a 'satellite finder' meter because such a meter helps you to find the satellite geostationary arc, and then you can hop from one satellite to another. Initial aiming (installation) using just a receiver is much more frustrating.
Aligning a motorized dish so that it tracks properly is much more difficult than pointing a fixed dish.
You also need to check the LNBF settings in your receiver to match your particular LNBF (LO for example).
There're many other variables. Well worth paying an expert.

Optical (visible light or IR burst). Antenna (RF noise burst). 99% of the design effort would be the signal processing to distinguish lighting from other signals (no matter what sensor technology you decide to use). Over large areas, lightning can be almost continuous. So the 'burst' might be a false assumption.
