help on abaqus energy output

(OP)
Hi,

anyone knows the exact meaning of the energy output from ABAQUS. I tried a simple cantilever beam with linear elastic input and found out that the energy output confused me. From the manual and my results, ETOTAL=ALLIE-ALLWK. My understanding for this simple problem should be ETOTAL=0.0, but the results showed ETOTAL<0.0. It seems the external work is greater than the total strain energy. Anyone knows what does the extra energy go?

thanks.

RE: help on abaqus energy output

The strain energy is denoted ALLSE.
The internal energy is denoted ALLIE.
ETOTAL should goes to zero with mesh refinement.
