PMMA Defects

PMMA Defects

PMMA Defects

(OP)
Dear all,

Recently, i am compounding some transparent colored PMMA for my customer. The application use is for optical lens, the molded part is very simple with rectangular in shape. However, during my QC checks, the powder(fines) content is controled at very little %, black spot too.

However despite this, my customer still complaint of shiny dots and white dots. According to supplier and our findings, the fines of the PMMA is unavoidable and this fines may cause such defects such as shiny or white dots. Do anyone have any experience with PMMA defects ? I suspect the shiny dots may be due to bubbles trapped.

RE: PMMA Defects

moisture content? how about other additives in the product?
