dimension in crosshatch

dimension in crosshatch

dimension in crosshatch

(OP)
Since upgrading to 2007 every time I place a dimension in a crosshatched area it no longer breaks the crosshatch and makes the dimension visible. Is there a setting to get this back?

RE: dimension in crosshatch

Tools > Options > Document Properties > Detailing and checkmark Show halo around annotations in the Area Hatch Display section.

cheers

RE: dimension in crosshatch

(OP)
I was looking for something like that and though you  explain it clear as day it still doesn't exist in my options page.

RE: dimension in crosshatch

Which SP are you running?

cheers

RE: dimension in crosshatch

(OP)
I am at SP0 is it something that was fixed for the latest service pack?

RE: dimension in crosshatch

I don't know, but I am running SP1.1 and the option is there!

cheers

RE: dimension in crosshatch

Did you have a drawing open when checking for the option?
Having a drawing open will activates all the pertinent options.

cheers

I updated to SP1.1 and the option is now available but it doesn't change the dimensions to add the Halo. I delete the dimension and add it again and it still does not add the HALO around the dimension.

RE: dimension in crosshatch

Have you up updated your video card driver since upgrading to SW07?

Was you SW07-SP0 install from the DVD/CDs, or from a download?

cheers

RE: dimension in crosshatch

(OP)
I did the DVD approach. I just tried a couple things and here's what the results were. In this design it includes a hydraulic cylinder, In my cross section view of the complete mold with everything showing I can dimension and the halo does indeed appear and everything is good except with the cylinder showing it's to long for paper so I break the view to shorten the cylinder and then all the dimensions lose the halo and the crosshatch is over them. CBL can you try this and see if it does this to you as well?

RE: dimension in crosshatch

I've not started using 2007 yet, but all my experience with broken views is that they're glitchy at best.  Lots of different annotation-related items have a tendency to show up incorrectly.

RE: dimension in crosshatch

rikonen ... A quick test here showed the same problem. It appears to be a glitch. Suggest you submit an ER or report it as a bug.

As handleman said, broken (and some other 'special') views can affect other features.

cheers

RE: dimension in crosshatch

If its suppose to work, then you need to call your VAR, if it doesn't work and never has, then you need to turn in a ER.

RE: dimension in crosshatch

Scott ... how can anyone be sure that it's supposed to work and not a bug/glitch/limitation?
Logical thought would be; if the "halo" works in a regular cross-section, that it should work in a broken cross-section. But if the SW code does not allow this, how would anyone know? ... unless it specifically states in the Help files that it should work.

cheers

RE: dimension in crosshatch

If it worked in an old version then it should in the new version. So that would be considered a regression, however if they removed something that used to be in the program... then the only way you can tell would be to contact your VAR.

Most of the time if it worked in a previous version, then it should work in the latest... so you as a user can tell if it worked in a previous version better, because you all do what you do on a regular basis and we as Technical support have to do it all every day of the week.

RE: dimension in crosshatch

Trouble is, there are many new users starting out with SW06 or SW07 and they may not have access to or experience with older versions. Even those who have used older versions may not have used the broken cross-section before, so would not know if it worked before or not ... or as in my case, just can't remember. sad

New users would naturally think of the OP's problem as a bug.

From a VAR's point of view, would it confuse the issue if the problem was reported as a bug to a VAR, and also submitted as an ER to SW?

cheers
