what material would be best suited to bring grade up six feet and place conrete slab over? thanks

Granular.

Some issues may be present that could require drains below, or other.

More specifically, "granular" refers to a mixture of sand and gravel (the sand is needed so that the fill will compact better).  The fill should be compacted in 6" to 8" lifts (that is, don't allow them to place all the fill at once and then compact it).
