Built-up Box Column Design Procedure

Built-up Box Column Design Procedure

Built-up Box Column Design Procedure

(OP)
Since AISC 358-05 does not recognize HSS columns as part of the design requirements for a Prequalified Connection in a SMRF (2.3.2b), I need to use built-up box columns. Can anyone direct me to where I can find a design procedure for such columns? I have limited space which limits the use of WF columns either boxed or in a cruciform configuration.

Any direction would be appreciated.

Ryan Erick Broomé, P.E.
