Reynolds Number
Reynolds Number
(OP)
I am wondering how you calculate the Reynolds Number, Re, for wire moving in a fluid. What
characteristic dimension do you use; and what criteria do you use to determine a turbulent state?
My approach would be to use
Re = vD/viscosity(k)
v = velocity of wire D = diameter of wire
viscosity(k) = kinematic viscosity
And to use the criteria for flow over a flat plate. Does this make any sense?
Thank You

RE: Reynolds Number
There is two type for determining Re:
1. condition:The STATIC object in the streaming fluid Or
The moving object in the static fluid
method: Re=V.D/v that D means diameter of object &V means velocity of object or fluid
Aim: study on sedimentation of object
2. condition :the streaming fluid
method:Re=V.D/v that D means diameter of canal& V means velocity of fluid
Aim:study on condition of fluid.
I wish this help you.
