Storage Tank capacity

Storage Tank capacity

Storage Tank capacity

(OP)
hi,
we want to add a storage tank to our chilled water circuit to store cooling capacity in case chiller has failed. How can we model this tank(transient system) to know how many minutes this tank can carry the load?

thanks.

RE: Storage Tank capacity

Volume divided by flowrate should give you time.

Gal/gpm = minutes.

This would assume you're entire volume is 'chilled' water, not a stratified tanks.

we do not want That tank to have design temperature but for emergency within 3-4 from setpoint (maximum).
So,how many minutes this tank can keep this temperature range, what we need is a formula for tank temperature with time (mixing process)?

thanks alot.
