Applying for PE License in Multiple States

Applying for PE License in Multiple States

Applying for PE License in Multiple States

(OP)
I am licensed in one state and need to be licensed in anoter state. It's not automatic and requires resubmitting most of the information originally submitted for the first license.
Has anyone used the NCEES record program where a record (experience, references, etc) is established that can be used when applying for multiple licenses?

RE: Applying for PE License in Multiple States

Yes. I have although I used it only to get in one more state. To me it is a very good way to do it. There still some states such as NY and MA that will only accept part of the record, but it is still a better way.

You can check on NCEES website as to which state accepts which part of the NCEES records.

There is a $25 annual charge for renewal of the record. They will transmit all data to the boards you request at extra charge. NCESS records and references becomes very handy when records get older than 5 years or if you have a few employment changes.

The key benefit comes in verification of old references, that if NCEES has done it, most states would accept it.

RE: Applying for PE License in Multiple States

It's definitely worth it. I have used it for three additional states. Though it does not provide all of the data needed for all states, it provides most of it, and most of the tedious stuff.
I have heard of a service which provides all of the data for submittal, where someone actually sends in all of your data for you, but it is much more expensive.

RE: Applying for PE License in Multiple States

I've used NCEES for 13 states and it was very beneficial.

RE: Applying for PE License in Multiple States

I have used it for 20+ states and find it worthwhile overall. It is more helpful for some states than others. A few require considerable additional info. I've heard lately that NCEES has been slow to respond to requests from states.
