FRP pipe allowable stress
FRP pipe allowable stress
(OP)
Hello all,
I am analysing a 30" fire water FRP pipe according to Asme B31.3 using Caesar II.
31.3 appendix A does not contain allowable stress value for FRP pipe. I need to have it to compare with the code stress.
Does anyone know how can I find the allowable stress values for FRP pipe.
thanks in advance
saliba

The vendor should always be consulted on the properties of their products for FRP. A stress analysis package that can combind the different types of manufacturing methods of the pipe/fitting needs to be used, Caesar II/Triflex etc, consult the manual for the set-up of CII for FRP anaylsis. Use BS 7159/UKOOA or similar code to evaluate the stresses.
A manufacturer that I used to use in SA is FiberWound for this information. Please also consult with COADE when setting up the program CII, especially the SIF & Pressure stiffening.
Sorry if this response is a bit late.
