2007 runtime error

2007 runtime error

(OP)
I am running 2007 and have crashed a few times and get the following runtime error:

Quote:

Runtime Error!
Program: C:\Program Files\Solidworks 2007\SLDWORKS.exe
R6025 - pure virtual function call
I have the current SW recommended video card drivers and using Windows XP Pro SP2.
I searched Micro$oft and found the following:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/125749

Has anyone else got this error?

SW07 SP1.0

RE: 2007 runtime error

Actually, yes.  We had one system that was having this error come up periodically yesterday.  The system hadn't been re-booted for a couple of days.  We did a restart and so far, so good.

RE: 2007 runtime error

What were you trying to do when it crashed?

What have you tried so far? (Repair, re-install, ???)

cheers

RE: 2007 runtime error

I have re-booted but that didn't help.  This has happened yesterday and today.  I have been running SW07 without any problems, with the exception that yesterday and today I have the Photoworks add-in turned on.  This error/crash has happened mainly whenever I switch from the drawing to the assembly.

Since I am currently on SP1.0, if I do a repair, will I have to re-install SP1.0 or does that only repair the core of SW?

I don't know what you are doing prior to getting this error, but SW Knowledge base already list a bunch of these crashes. So I suggest you check them out there. I used "pure virtual function call" is my search text and found all the hits on that.

Example of one I found:

Question:
Why causes the following error when starting SolidWorks?
"C++ error: R6025 - pure virtual function call"

Answer:
This is a known issue, already submitted to our development team in Software Performance Report (SPR) #321149. Please refer to the SPR Look-up Subscription Services site for the latest status of this SPR. (http://www.solidworks.com/pages/services/subscription/ServicePackMaintenanceNotes.html)
Please contact your reseller in order to be added to the notification list to be contacted when the issue is resolved.

This problem is caused by having the Toolbox add-in enabled and yet the <Toolbox dir>\browser directory does not exist.  Verify that the Toolbox path in the <SolidWorks install dir>\Toolbox\toolbox.ini file is pointing to the location of your Toolbox files.

There are plenty more of them there. Check it out.

Thanks Scott, you found the problem.  We installed 2007 and haven't had time to fix the toolbox.  I changed the server location of the toolbox.ini file, and now I get a new error:

Quote:

Error:  The database file '\\Engineering\ddrive\Toolbox\Solidworks Data\lang\English\SWBrowser.mdb' is not the expected version (11.24)
We have several customized parts, as well as screws and other hardware with our part numberS in them.  Hopefully we will not have to start from scratch and redo the 2007 toolbox items.
We are using Office 2003, so I don't think it's the Access version.

RE: 2007 runtime error

There is a util that comes with SW that will update the DB file if this happens. It is located in - C:\Program Files\SolidWorks07\Toolbox\data utilities\UpdateBrowserData.exe

Here you can run this util find the DB file and update it to the expected version.

RE: 2007 runtime error

Forgot to add... when you update your TB its suppose to update the mdb file to the newset version. this Util does that for you if it doens't get updated.

Do back up your system in case you have further problems though.

Solidworks 07 = your install directory

Thanks Scott, you da man!  2thumbsup

I closed SW and started UpdateBrowserData.exe.   Below is a screenshot of what to fill in.
http://www.paul-flores.com/solidworks_screenshots/Updated_Browser_Data_exe.jpg

1. I pointed to "updatedb.mdb" in the first field.

2. In the second field I pointed to the previous version of toolbox with our custom parts in it.

3.I didn't know what the third field was for, so I left it blank.

4. I hit the "Update" button, and after a few minutes, it was done.  I started SW up, and voila, our toolbox was there with our custom stuff.  Toolbox from SW06 is now updated to the Toolbox in SW07.
