What's the best mouse?

What's the best mouse?

What's the best mouse?

(OP)
Other than comfort which is a personal perspective...

What mouse has proven to be the most useful, easieast, with the best options for UG NX3 / 4.

Right now we have a stock trackball style 2 button w/ scroll wheel and they are junk.

We have approval to buy new optical mice for all our NX machines, but I'd like to get some recommendations as to what people have used/liked/recommend.

Thanks in advance.  This forum has truely proven to be very helpful to a rookie like myself.

Branden.

RE: What's the best mouse?

I use the basic Dell or Logitech optical mouse, with scroll wheel.  Nothing fancy.

Everything should be designed as simple as possible, but not simpler.

RE: What's the best mouse?

Something with 3 buttons is ideal.  I use a dell laser with scroll ball, it acts as a middle mouse button.  It is kind of a pain, but it serves the purpose.

RE: What's the best mouse?

I highly recommend a spaceball to go along with your new mouse, if you don't already have one. You can pan, zoom, and rotate with the ball and assign commonly used commands to the buttons. Not only is it a great productivity booster, but you can now get carpal tunnel in both wrists!!

The mouse I use is a generic logitech 2 button/scrollwheel (which also acts as the 3rd button), and it does the job perfectly well.

Logitech LX7 Cordless Optical Mouse, and a SpacePilot ... unbeatable !

Logitech MX700 wireless optical works well here

RE: What's the best mouse?

I have a ten yr old Logitech 3 button which is wider than recent designs (better for my paws). I find the solid middle button is better for me to complete functions(OK) than the scroll wheel. Ditto the spaceball for moving around, can't be without one now.  I believe the spaceball can used for scrolling on non-CAD apps but I have not tried it.

We've got the latest 3DConnexions product, the SpacePilot, which goes a long way to reducing the grief on the wrists.  They claim in their blurb that claims from employees have dropped right off where SpacePilots have gone in.

RE: What's the best mouse?

For the record, that was just a lame attempt at humor. I have spent the majority of my work time driving a spaceball/mouse combo (5+ years now) and have no complaint with the spaceball. As long as you follow some ergonomic guidelines for your workspace it should only pose a low risk problem.
