Flexible fixed diameter tube - what is this?

Flexible fixed diameter tube - what is this?

(OP)
Hello,

I am looking for a flexible tube capable of transferring a fixed size ball from one container to another. The tube must be flexible enough to be moved around freely but yet not pinch in sections, restricting the balls from moving feely.

my experience is limited in this field and i dont know what type of tubing are out there to accomplish my task. If anyone knows of a type that could do this, even a name of a tube would help me in searching online or additional help.

Is this a school/academic problem/project?

Go to your home supply store and look at flexible plastic electrical conduit.

You do not state size, weight, or composition of the balls therfore difficult for adequate response.  Depending on the ball characteristics, a helical reinforced smooth ID flex hose of appropiate diameter may satisfy your situation.  A smooth ID will not pinch if you follow manufacturer's recommended minimum bend radius.

This is for a personal project i'm working on. Ideally what i'm looking for is something that will resist going over its minimum bend radius and not get damage.

Also the diameter of the tube is about 0.7". I dont have the specs for the balls but their fairly light and must not be squished to avoid damaging them.

I AM GUESSING SOME TYPE OF AUTOMATIC?? FEED FOR PAINT BALLS.  TOUGH ONE--ONE BALL BREAKAGE AND YOUR TRANSFER SYSTEM WILL NOT FUNCTION.

Well actually this was originally going to be used for a setup with two vibration tables at work. But then we starting thinking of other ideas... and you know how things go, you never do work while at work.

Do you know what a "helical reinforced smooth ID flex hose" actually is? where can i find a outline of one or something? Do you know a manufacturer that makes these hoses?

ps.. i still need to get this done for work, so its not just for pleasure :)

RE: Flexible fixed diameter tube - what is this?

I am confused--you state that the diameter of the tube is 0.7".  Sounds as if you currently are in possession of tube.
The helical reinforced hose that I had mentioned start at 2".
For smaller industrial hose look at Aeroquip.  If you require a general opaque hose look at a Grainger or McMaster catalog.
