Cross Sections
Cross Sections
(OP)
I work at a civil engineer firm and we design rockery walls from grading plans that we recieve from various companies. The engineer here wants me to start drawing cross sections thru the rockery walls to show elevations, slopes and so on. He believes that I can just draw one line thru the rockery wall, and AutoCAD will generate the cross section for me. But if that is possible, I have no idea how to do it. I just have AutoCAD 2005, none of the additional packages. If its not possible, what program can I buy to make that possible? We will be doing a lot of cross sections, and he wants them to be done in a very time effcient manner. (5min or so) What do you guys suggest doing? Thanks for any info/suggestions.

RE: Cross Sections
But seriously, plain AitoCAD can not do this. With an expensive program such as Land Development Desktop (LDD), not somewaht replaced by civil 3D, and with lots of training, and time to input lots of elevations to define surfaces, then you can easily generate cross-sections. Depends on how many sections per project you need to ghenerate, how oftewn, determines whether it's justified to use a program rather than the good old manual method.

It requires contours drawn at their proper elevations to work properly.

Give this a shot. Works great!
