PVC & UL 94 flammability

PVC & UL 94 flammability

PVC & UL 94 flammability

(OP)
Does all PVC meet V0 requirements as set forth by UL 94 due to its self extinguishing properties or does it depend upon formulation/usage e.g. extrusion, molded, etc.? I know that additives are often used to make a thermoplastic meet the requirement but I'm not sure if the PVC that is V0 has these additives or not.

How does one go about ensuring this requirement is met?

RE: PVC & UL 94 flammability

Ask your raw material supplier or moulder or parts supplier.

You could have a part tested.

PVC is normally a compound that contains additives to improve it's mould ability. These could be detrimental to pure PVCs natural inclination to be flame retardant. I am not sure if PVC needs the help of additives to get a V0 rating.
