Automatic Drain Valve Selection Help
Automatic Drain Valve Selection Help
(OP)
I have a pressurized methane tank @ between 11 and 14 psig. The methane contains moisture which condenses during the compression process the same way moisture condenses during an air compressor cycle.
I need to select an automatic drain valve for this application, BUT there is one small issue. The drain valve will fail as all other condensate traps do and this is not simply steam or compressed air. It is a flamable gas that could enter a drain line causing loud bangs, structural damage and personal injury. So the trap needs to fail in the closed position and not allow any bypass leakage.
Any ideas?
Thanks.

RE: Automatic Drain Valve Selection Help
How about a ball valve with air to open/spring to close actuator on it. Perform regular maintenance.
If that doesn't let you sleep at night, put 2 ball valves with air to open/spring to close actuators on it in series in your line. And, perform regular mainenance.
Sorry if I misunderstood your OP.
