Hi, can someone assist me with a basic pulley ratio setup?

I have a 1500 rpm motor (shaft dia. 24 mm) and want to reduce this speed to @370 rpm.

My question is: If I add an 85 mm pulley onto the drive shaft of the motor will this reduce the rotation by 1:3.5 before I look at the end drive pulley?

Not real sure I understand what you're asking... but if you are putting an 85mm pulley on the shaft of the motor and want to run a pulley on a shaft or something similar at 370 rpm you would need to have a pulley of about 345mm.

Sorry, The thread is not very concise.

The 85 mm pulley would be located onto the motor drive shaft and the reduction in rpm would be required on a seperate shaft.

I am trying to reduce the v-belt length required to drive the final pulley. I may well be looking to have an intermediate shaft & pulley set up to try and effect this.

Find a pulley combination where the output shaft pulley diameter is about 4.05 times the diameter of the motor driveshaft.  This will get you the speed reduction you need.

The actual sizes of each pulley will be determined by things like belt maximum speed, tension in the belt, belt availability, pulley availability, etc.  However, the ratio between the diameters of the two pullies should always be the ratio between the desired speeds with the slower shaft getting the larger pulley.
