why would files created in solidworks ask to recognize features upon opening? I also have the box unchecked to recognize features on opening part but I wouldn't think that a file created inside solidworks would ask that at all.

RE: featureworks

If your part has no imported geometry in it, FeatureWorks should not prompt you to start recognizing features.  If you have the "recognize features on opening part" option unchecked, you should not be prompted at all.

It sounds like it could be a software bug, or you need to do a repair on your installation.  Which version of SW do you have installed?

I'm running SWX Office 2007 SP0.0. I have not yet done the update to 1.0. I just started seeing this since I did my 2007 upgrade from 2006.

RE: featureworks

If doing a repair on your installation and upgrading to SP1.1 don't fix the problem, let your VAR know.

RE: featureworks

If the part is a dumb solid, it would ask this question... Turn the Add-in off under Tools\Add-ins and you won't see that come up.
