Measure window

Measure window

SW2006 SP5.0

How do I force to keep the Measure window open with the (measured) values in it displayed when I go and do edit say sketch - right now I have to write down the values because when I go to edit sketch those values disappear.

RE: Measure window

I'm not sure how or why to do this.

RE: Measure window

You can't.  The reason is that the measure box shows measurements related to the selected items in the graphics area.  When you edit the sketch the selections are cleared.

RE: Measure window

The measurements taken are dynamic ... you can't retain them.

Do a copy-n-paste on the values and drop them into a Notepad file.

cheers

RE: Measure window

I use the free version of Clipboard Recorder from http://www.lw-works.com/ .  I've tried several free clipboard managers, but this uses less screen real-estate, memory, and you can hide it if you want without closing it.

RE: Measure window

Not sure about that recorder - But i just do a Alt-Print screen and paste it into some image software, like Patin shop pro or MS paint, and use it from there.

RE: Measure window

I liked the way cadkey would apply expressions to the reults of a measurement. it would give each measured value and assign a number to it (@1, @2, @3) then when you go back and say you'd like to offset the amount you measured you didn't need to remember the actual amount just the number assigned to it. When you placed the value in the amount to move you would just put @1 or @2 etc, to the number assigned during your measurement. It is one of the most handy tools that Cadkey has. (Kubotek now)would make a nice enhancement to SWX.

RE: Measure window

rikonen,
Similar to what you are saying:
Tools/Options/System Options/General/check box "Show dimension names".

RE: Measure window

Chris,

That does nothing in my measure feature. what should it show?

RE: Measure window

I'm sorry, I was thinking of dimensions. It will show dim names, not measure names.
