Determination of ESAL's

Determination of ESAL's

Determination of ESAL's

(OP)
Hi, does anyone have an outline of how to determine ESAL?  The project that I am working on has a large semi showing up a couple of times a week and we have been asked to design the pavement accordingly.  The geotechnical engineer has not been any help on this.

Thanks.

RE: Determination of ESAL's

Many state DOTs have their pavement design manual on line. For example, NYSDOT's is here: http://www.dot.state.ny.us/cmb/consult/cpdmfiles/cpdm.html

Can you get a better traffic projection than "a large semi showing up a couple of times a week?" You'll need AADT adn percent trucks, as a minimum.
