We are building a new structure near a 6KV OH line, and they are buildFor 600V ~ 50kV, all the standards says that a 10-ft clearance is required between the energized line and structures in the facility.  If they use the protective yellow jackets, would that alleviate the separation distance to a closer distance? Does anyonehave any have any experience in this?

Hi there a10jp!! NEC 230.24 shows you clearances according to voltage or traffic (people, cars or truck traffic). However, I will recommend you to check also with your utility company (usually they have a manual) to check their spacing/clearances requirements. Hope this helps!

Looks like my original post got cut off.  They are building this with all the scaffolding right under this 6KV OH line, and it is about 8' under.  We are building this in Japan, and the local code says (after translation), "if the line is protected with coverings, no clearance is required."  I have doubts so I wanted to check with others.  I think even the minimum 10' might be reduced (to say 6' or 7') with clearance distance, but not without one.

The National Electrical Safety Code (ANSI C2) specifies required clearances in the U.S. for this type of situation. I think it would be a reasonable guide for use in Japan if there are no applicable codes there.
