Shortcuts to US code clauses

Shortcuts to US code clauses

Shortcuts to US code clauses

(OP)
Given the complexity of US codes, I thought that this may be a good venue to share general shortcuts/rules of thumb/simplifications that people use to simplify the design task.

Does anyone have any of these out there?

RE: Shortcuts to US code clauses

I don't know about any specific resources that can be readily used, but recently I have started a project that could potentially develop into something that you are looking for. It was inspired by Wikipedia.org, "the free encyclopedia that anyone can edit"; mine is called StructuralWiki and can be found at http://www.bridgeart.net/wiki.

I use the StructuralWiki to keep notes of things I have came over during my design work and to which I may need to refer to again in the future. The simplicity and flexibility of wiki is great for this. Although it is not as complete as my "personal structural library" (of course, not everything can be displayed on the internet), I think that it includes some useful information, which will hopefully grow in size over the time. Anybody is welcome to join!

WOW.  I cannot believe that you've done this Bridgeart.  Would you mind if I start posting articles about buildings there as well?  I had been thinking about a similar project for some time, and would be very keen to help you out with this.

Please let me know.

RE: Shortcuts to US code clauses

Youngstructural, you are very welcome to start posting articles about buildings on StructuralWiki!

My vision for StructuralWiki is that it should be centered around structural engineering, but it can also include relevant information from related fields, such as architecture, civil engineering, history of structures, structural engineering software, etc. Articles should be more professional oriented and more specialized than those on Wikipedia.

Regards,

Bridgeart
