CENTERLINES IN DRAWINGS

CENTERLINES IN DRAWINGS

CENTERLINES IN DRAWINGS

(OP)
Hi all,
Cant seem to add centerlines. They will come in if I want to have them auto create on view creation. I cannot pick the hole edges, as in a side view. I can only pick the surface. Filters are off. Using Sw2005 sp5.0. Any ideas? Thanks

RE: CENTERLINES IN DRAWINGS

I believe there is an option for picking hidden lines on a drawing, but I can't find it right now.  Maybe someone else knows about it.

SW07 SP1.0

RE: CENTERLINES IN DRAWINGS

Check your setting for Tools->Options, System Options tab, Display/Selection section, Selection of hidden edges options.  If "Allow selection in wireframe and HLV modes" is not selected then you won't be able to select hole edges in side views.

RE: CENTERLINES IN DRAWINGS

handleman ... that's only for the solid model isn't it? You should be able to pick hidden edges in a drawing view regardless of the display view mode.

cheers

RE: CENTERLINES IN DRAWINGS

Quite the opposite, actually.  At least for me (SW06, SP5), that setting doesn't affect solids at all.  I can never select a hidden line in the solid without using "Select Other", regardless of those two settings or the current display mode.  Those settings only change when I can select hidden edges in the drawing.

RE: CENTERLINES IN DRAWINGS

Clarification:  In assemblies (not parts) I can select faces or edges that are hidden behind a transparent component when "Enable selection through transparency" is checked.  Is that what you were thinking of?

RE: CENTERLINES IN DRAWINGS

May be, I don't have SW on this computer so will have to check later.

cheers

Thanks handleman! Missed the switch>

RE: CENTERLINES IN DRAWINGS

You can leave the HLV choices off (better performance anyway) and just right-click and select-other to the face of the holes you want to add centerlines to.

You can also just click the drawing view and no particular edges/faces/dimensions, and when you hit the Centerlines button, it will add it to all places it can.
