Anchor Block Calculation by Manual
Anchor Block Calculation by Manual
(OP)
It is well know that for the buried pipeline the anchor shall be applied before the the pipeline out of underground. In the manual calculation for it, the "End movement of buried pipeline" is a critical parameter. This calculation is performed according to "Anchors for Cross-Country Pipelines (Aramco Engineering Standard)", pity that it is not available for me. Who can enlighten me how to get the standard or how to choose value of "End movement of buried pipeline"
Thank you very much, your valuable idea will be appreciated greatly.

RE: Anchor Block Calculation by Manual
End movement is the result of a combination of loads, end pressure from closed valves or caps, thermal expansion or contraction force and the Poisson ratio component of the pipeline radial strain in the axial direction (hoop stress x Poisson ratio). The reaction force induced at the anchor is a usually non-linear combination of the pipeload and the soil's spring constant, (summation of active and passive force for a small displacement) that holds the anchor in place, plus soil to anchor friction at the bottom surface of the anchor.
Sometimes a simple guide may suffice, rather than a full anchor, if movement can be directed in such a way that equipment is not affected by the movement, which also results in much less force being developed in all members.
