materials editor

(OP)
Hi all
Ive tried to add new materials thru the materials editor but when I finish and check ok, the existing database disappears. Luckily the administrator has it copied or I'd be in a world of hurt! I've tried it a couple times with the same reults. We are on Sw2005 sp5. Network located databases, etc. Nothing out of the ordinary I thought.
Any thoughts. Thanks

RE: materials editor

Never seen it disappear in SW05 or 06... but you can change it manually - C:\Program Files\SolidWorks05\lang\english\sldmaterials\solidworks materials.sldmat - Make a copy of that file or if you have one already saved You can open it up with Notepad and change it there.

Also check to make sure your path is setup correctly to the file.

RE: materials editor

swmetal,

The solidworks materials.sldmat is an XML file.  While you can use notepad to edit it, I have found using an XML editor is easier.  I use a free one called Peter's XML Editor.  You can download a free copy at http://www.iol.ie/~pxe/
