German terms for pressure

Can anyone tell me what the technical german terms for various pressures are?  I fear a non-technical translation from my school Enginsh/German dictionary may prove wrong.

static pressure =
dynamic pressure =
total pressure =
gauge pressure =
absolute pressure =

RE: German terms for pressure

From Altavista Babel fish I found these hypothesis

Static pressure = statischer Druck
Dynamic pressure = dynamischer Druck
Total pressure = Gesamtdruck
Gauge pressure = Manometerdruck
Absolute pressure = absolutdruck

Babel fish was my first reference too and those words do concur with my dwindling high-school German.  However, I was hoping a native German-speaking engineer might clarify.

Thanks anyway.

RE: German terms for pressure

Go to myspace.com and find a german group and ask them.  OR google for a german forum but then you have to register.  That will be your best bet :)

RE: German terms for pressure

Based on the data listed under eng-tips->geography,
it looks like 1.0358% of the members are from Germany, maybe you should ask on a different forum for example one related to Mechanical Engineering.

RE: German terms for pressure

static pressure =  statischer Druck
dynamic pressure =  Staudruck (mechanical usage)
=  dynamische Pressung or dynamischer Druck (chemical)
total pressure =  Gesamtdruck
gauge pressure =  Uberdruck or Manometerdruck
absolute pressure =  Absolutdruck

one of the best.........

meintsi,

Thanks a bunch.  While you're still there is there a direct technical translation for "stagnation pressure"?

RE: German terms for pressure

The site you indicate seems to be good for the posting purpose

 Ah! Ah!
I like that - “If you don't use your head your going to have to use your feet."

In Portugal we use to say – “if you don’t have a dog you have to hunt with a cat”

Cancel my question.  The site looks pretty good to me.

SomptingGuy - what is stagnation pressure? Never heard of it in 30+ years of engineering.

RE: German terms for pressure

It's a different name for total pressure.  It is usually described as the pressure required to bring a fluid to rest (hence the word "stagnation").

RE: German terms for pressure

like at the stagnation point on an airfoil
