catia-file-translations-what is best format for sw07?

(OP)
I'M TRYING TO CONVERT SOME FILES THAT ARE ORIGINALLY MODELED IN cATIA.  I NEED TO TELL THE SUPPLIER OF THESE FILES HOW TO EXPORT THEM TO GET THEM INTO SW07, SO I CAN USE THEM.  SO FAR IGES CAME IN THE CLEANEST, WITH 1 PART COMING IN AS 1 SURFACE, AND THE OTHER PART CAME IN AS 14 SURFACES.  THE DIAGNOSIS TOOLS Cant fix it enough.  HE HAS ALSO TRIED EXPORTING PARASOLID FILES, AND THEY CAME IN MUCH WORSE.

The question is...Is there a better format that I should tell the Catia dude to convert the files to?

RE: catia-file-translations-what is best format for sw07?

Well, having experienced this first hand just a few weeks ago here's what I did after trying a number of formats (iges, step, Parasolid, etc) with very limited success.

I obtained the original CATIA file (V5 is better than V4 but either version will work).  I then contacted Capvidia (www.capividia.com)and had them translate the file for me through their FormatWorks software.  They have reasonable pricing and FormatWorks can give you a history tree in some cases (the software is pretty cool.  They translate the file and provide you with a .sldprt file when their finished.  You have the option of previewing the translated file as an e-drawing before you actually purchase the file just to be sure your satisfied.
