Dual Weight Dimension in SW2006

Dual Weight Dimension in SW2006

Dual Weight Dimension in SW2006

I recently got a request from upper management to implement part weight in the titleblock of our drawings...no problem as long as the materials are loaded in.  Well the problem is we use dual dimensioning and need to display weight in lbs and kgs.  I can get one or the other but not both using the mass custom property.  Any thoughts?

RE: Dual Weight Dimension in SW2006

Can you please clarify? Are you trying to display weight with the dual dim?

Yeah.  Right now I have the titleblock of our drawing pulling the weight from a custom property in the part or assembly that is linked to the mass property.  Unfortunately it does not appear that dual dimensions are implemented in Tools-->Options-->Document Properties-->Units.  Length of course is implemented but mass and force do not appear to be.

RE: Dual Weight Dimension in SW2006

Dimensions are dimensions. They are not intended to show weight (mass). As you are doing now, you have to link text to the part properties.

Hero,

Presently you have a custom property for weight in US units.  Create a second custom property for Mass in SI.  Using a design table, grab your custom property for the Weight in US units.  Have the conversion formula in the cell that will populate the SI custom property.  Link your drawing text to both custom properties.

Second thought...This may only work in configuration specific custom properties.

Beat me to it CBL... Didn't know that thread existed.

Thanks Shaggy, that works.  It's not a great way but I figured that the final solution would be anything but straight forward.
