Is anyone familiar with these devices? I am thinking about building one.  They seem to be common for refrigeration but I would like to use this concept for heating (heatpump)operation.

RE: Ammonia/Water absorption cooling/heating

A Dr. Phillips who used to live in Benton Harbor or St. Josephs, Michigan commercialized a specific pad mount for domestic type duty that used Aqua Ammonia for  Cooling and Heat Pump duty...as a Heat Pump the COP wasn't real good but it effectively used the ammonia/water only as a brine for heat transfer....

This was aimed at "northern" climates where the heat input to the cycle was 3 to 4 times the cooling effect, and the Degree Days heating was substantially larger than DD-Cool.

There is quite a bit of description in his patent, believ it was around 1992.
