SW 2007 Rename

(OP)
In case you haven't noticed, you can now safely rename a SW file in Windows Explorer 2007 and keep its links.  Right-click a file > Solidworks > Rename

http://www.paul-flores.com/solidworks_screenshots/explorer_2007.jpg

After picking a file, it will automatically search the folder for drawings "where used" similar to SW Explorer 2007:

This will automatically find all files for that particular project and keep the links.  We installed SW07, but are still using SW06.

From Windows Explorer: Right-click a file > Solidworks > Pack and Go, you will get the following box:

You will see a few options for grabbing the required files, such as simply copying them to another folder, or zipping them. Also has an option to add prefix or suffix.

RE: SW 2007 Rename

I didn't know you could do that right there--I don't use SW Explorer, but use Windows Explorer all the time.

Thanks for the info!

Can I admit I found that on accident?  I sometimes right-click > Open with > SW Viewer because I wanted to quickly view a large drawing.  I found that "Solidworks" in the right-click menu and started playing with it.  SW did a good job of meshing SW Explorer and Windows Explorer.
