Acer AL2216Wbd  This is a 22" wide screen lcd that comes with a good price $340.  I just wanted to know if anyone could recommend or not- recommend it based on their experiences of using it with solidworks.  thanks

RE: Is anyone using this monitor w/ Sworks -Acer AL2216Wbd

The only thing would be is your video card up to the task of supporting 1900 x 1200 resolution.  Other than that is your v-card SWx certified and are you using the correct driver.

Never argue with an idiot. They'll bring you down to their level and beat you with experience every time.

I am using it, the widescreen is great!! I have a huge area to see my model, with all the toolbars off to the side of the screen.  The only downside is the lack of height adjustment, I have it sitting on a few pieces of extruded aluminum to raise it to a comfortable viewing level.

I have a 20" wide at work and a 24" wide at home both from Dell and it works great for both.

RE: Is anyone using this monitor w/ Sworks -Acer AL2216Wbd

I'm on a Gateway (yeah--a Gateway) 21" LCD and I LOVE it for SW.  Wide screen, forgot the model number.

I do lots of renderings and finally gave up my ViewSonic 21" CRT, taking the risk that an LCD could deliver good true-color results.  This one hits the mark.

Generally, I advise always to take a look at the specific monitor model in use before buying.  LCDs have lots of cheap short-cuts available that won't deliver optimal working conditions if taken (such as narrow view angles, poor display gradations for grays, poor display for anything dark, etc.).  That's why I shelled out so much on this Gateway--it's been worth it.

From what I see, this is a 1680x1050 monitor.  This is actually less than a 1600x1200 screen.  Depending on how you work you may or may not prefer this.

RE: Is anyone using this monitor w/ Sworks -Acer AL2216Wbd

1680x1050 I use that on my work computer, but I use the 1900 on my home... very small... i like it better.

As Heckler posted, make sure your video card can handle it.  I was using 2 17" CRT monitors and replaced them with a single 20" widescreen Samsung Syncmaster 205BW. Both CRT's were running at 1024 x 768. My card can't handle the 1680 x 1050 resolution of the LCD so I am having to go back to my dinosaur CRT's. sad
