DesignModeler Question

DesignModeler Question

DesignModeler Question

(OP)
I have a parasolid body that I import into designmodeler.  My experience lies completely within Ansys and I'm trying to block to cut this part up into sweepable blocks so that i can get hex mesh the part.  My question is how can I cut this part up in DM?  I've figured out how to creat lines from edges on the body but I can't figure out how to extrude these lines in a particular direction to form areas which I can then cut the volume by.  Could anyone help me with the bottom up procedure on how to execute this task?  I'm pretty clueless and so far the DM help hasn't proven to helpful.  I've tried slice operations but I don't want to cut the body by a certain plane.

Thanks in advance for your help,
-Brian

RE: DesignModeler Question

Brian,

You can slice by sketches if you want.  In order to do this, make sure all bodies are frozen.  Then, sketch your 2D drawing of what you want to slice by, then extrude it.  Then, change the operation to be slice material instead of add material.  You can also select which bodies you want the slice to go through.

So what you should do is:

1 - Freeze all bodies
2 - Sketch your 2D drawing of what you want to slice by
3 - Extrude, change operation to slice material

There are some good articles on DM basics at:

Good luck
