Assy problem.

Assy problem.

Assy problem.

(OP)
Let me start from the top.
I have a cabinet door assembly consisting of:
A door panel prt
A hinge assy
A rack part with two patterened instances

I created a top assembly with the cabinet body, insert
the door assembly.

I make the hinge assy and door assembly flexible.

Now when I swing the door, everything moves as expected,
except the two patterened instances of the rack part.

Does this sound normal for patterned parts. I'm on swx05
sp 0.0 so a bug is certainly not out of the question.
Any thoughts...?

RE: Assy problem.

What is the rack part supposed to do?  Is it supposed to slide out whenever the door is opened or what?

No, it's just spotwelded to the door.
It's fully constrained as well.
The patterned instances don't follow it which is
totally confusing...

RE: Assy problem.

With just the door assy model open, do the door panel and racks move as they should about the hinge? I'm assuming you have a hinge-half fixed.

Have you somehow mated/constrained the racks to the fixed hinge-half?

cheers

RE: Assy problem.

If you Ctrl-Q do the patterned components move back where they're supposed to go?

RE: Assy problem.

(OP)
The rack is mated to the door just as it would
be spotwelded...it moves fine...it's 2 patterned
instances don't...and no ctrl-q doesn't move
them...I don't want to beat this to death, I'll
just delete the pattern and add 2 more copies of
the rack part.....this has got to be a bug...

RE: Assy problem.

(OP)
I just tried a circular pattern just for kicks but
it didn't work either...dunno...

RE: Assy problem.

You may already be aware of this, but instead of deleting the pattern and adding 2 more copies of the part, use "Dissolve Pattern".  Right-click the pattern > Dissolve pattern.  The parts will already be where they need to be, just add the mates afterwards.

Thanks Flores...I remember now...ya know, one of those
little used forgotten things...lol

If anyone wants to verify this it would be appreciated.
Someone has got to have a moveable subassy they can
pattern a part on to try this.

RE: Assy problem.

I'm running '06 SP 5.0.  I tried to reproduce your problem by:

1. Create a part
2. Add two instances of said part to a new assembly
3. Add mates to create a hinge-like movement
4. Insert a third part to be patterned
5. Mate to moving part
6. Create linear pattern of third part
7. Insert this assembly into another assembly
8. Add mates to fix position of subassembly
9. Make flexible
10. Move hinged part

All my patterned instances move just fine.  I'd be willing to bet it's a bug.
