ignition controls

(OP)
I have looked in a few text books but can not find out how flame rectification works internally of the ignition control, how it works with a single igniter/sensor, how to check flame signal on HSI or single igniter/sensor system.
Can anyone point me to a good textbook for these answers or give me an answer?

RE: ignition controls

Pretty much any trade school book will illustrate the principle such as "Industrial and Commercial Gas Burner Systems" by John Dutton.

You could also search the control sites such as "Fireye" for example.

You will see how it works like a 1/2 wave rectifier based on the relative size of the small flame rod/HSI with respect to the larger grounding area of a burner.

An AC current is applied by the ignition control, the flame signal will approximate pulsating DC.
