Flexible connection for the fire and domestic water use

Flexible connection for the fire and domestic water use

I am designing flexible connection for the combined domestic water and fire suppression system water supply to the floating building. The connection between float building pipe and supply pipe on the dyke, have to be flexible due to the large tide movements. The problem is that the hose has to comply with domestic water supply standards (AWWA, NFS61, BC Building Code in Canada), and NFPA standards for the fire protection use (ULC, UL, FM).

Do you know any manufacturer who produces such flexible connection which will comply with all of this standards? Or do you have any other suggestions?

RE: Flexible connection for the fire and domestic water use

Very simple.  Use 2 flex hoses.  One for potable water, one for fire water.

Thanks for your comment "trashcanman", but the problem is that incomming supply on the shore, and rigid pipe on the float are allready installed - 6inch. I can't even find flex connections for the domestic use , and fire services listed separatelly.

Although I dont know of any suppliers,  I would make initial inquiries from let's say cofferdam dewatering pump manufacturers such as "The Gorman Rupp Company" and "Tsurumi".

Since your building is floating, why not use the water it is floating on for fire protection?  Drop a hose with strainer over the side and draw up the fire protection water.
