Helical gears created using Toolbox

Helical gears created using Toolbox

Helical gears created using Toolbox

(OP)
The values for pitch diameter and outside diameter are incorrect according to Machinery's Handbook Edition 24 page 1939.  Anyone else come across this?  Specifically: 18 tooth, 19.463 Helix Angle, 20 degree pressure angle, 2.0 nominal pitch.  Thanks All.

RE: Helical gears created using Toolbox

I don't use Toolbox so cannot check. If you have another edition of Machinery's Handbook, double check that it wasn't just a typo. If Toolbox is incorrect you should notify SW for correction.

Another good source of gear details is
http://www.omnigearandmachine.com/technical_information.htm

You could use the 10 day trial of GearTrax from
http://www.camnetics.com/Download.htm

cheers

Checked another version of Machinery's including the cd rom version.  The equations are incorrect and we are taking up with s/w.
