does any one know or any simple software or programs that can give total  rotor thrust and rotational drag resultant for given rotor dimentions

RE: thrust and drag software for rotors

Try googling     XROTOR

It might be a cousin of XFOIL.

I have never been able to get it to work because I get "Windows cannot open this file"

If you get it opened can you tell us how you did it.

Thanks

Good Luck

RE: thrust and drag software for rotors

I think it only runs in Unix, since it uses X windows. Contact Mark Drela at MIT

i also couldnt get it working

RE: thrust and drag software for rotors

XROTOR works fine under WinXP.  Maybe you should try START > RUN > "CMD" and execute from the command shell.

Now, if someone would only write a decent man page for it, they'd really have something - I keep discovering new things about it all the time.

Brad

Hello Paul,

Drop an email to me (AminG@adelphia.net) - I might have some stuff for you regarding Xrotor

RE: thrust and drag software for rotors

There is also a program called PropSim - useful for water propeller designs but maybe for other fluids also.

Google the following text to find it

"propsim is an easy to use"
