Modeling Subcatchments into subcatchments

Modeling Subcatchments into subcatchments

(OP)
Can you have a Subcatchment drain to another subcatchment before going to a pond in HydroCAD 8.0?

RE: Modeling Subcatchments into subcatchments

Just tried on 7.1, and it looks like you couldn't then.

You can combine their hydrographs into a Link, then route the Link into a Pond.

Hey, Peter, any chance of eliminating the Link?

RE: Modeling Subcatchments into subcatchments

You can add the flows with a link, reach, or pond.  In your case, just route the two subcats to the pond.  You don't need an intermediate link.

RE: Modeling Subcatchments into subcatchments

Of course, if the travel time of the flow from one subcatchment through another subcatchment is significant, one should model it as a reach so that the lag is accounted for when the hydrographs are ultimately added together.
