Copy PDMWorks vault settings

Copy PDMWorks vault settings

Does anyone know of a way to copy all of the PDMWorks vault settings to another vault?  Something like the copy options wizard for SWX, but for PDMWorks.  I want to play around with vault settings / lifecycles and such on a test vault on my laptop and I'd like to make sure the settings are consistent between my work vault and the test vault.

At the moment, I'm planning on taking a screenshot of each page of the vault admin interface and using them to replicate the options on my test vault, but I'd like something less susceptible to chair-to-keyboard errors.

RE: Copy PDMWorks vault settings

Interesting. Never tried it. I will take a look. If can't do, it would be a great Enhancement Request.

RE: Copy PDMWorks vault settings

Find the location of your vault, mine is: C:\VaultData\pdmrc

Copy the following files:
users.pdmw
globals.pdmw
doc_types.pdmw
cust_prop_defs.pdmw
admin.pdmw

And the following directories with their contents:
revision_def
groups

There are other files in there as well, some specific to the vault contents.  But of the ones on our vault, those seem to be the ones related to the configuration.  You should stop the vault service prior to copying the files (on both systems), and restart it after the copy.

Eric,

Thanks for the reply.  From past experience with a vault that unexpectedly lost all user info I think you're right on target.  Unfortunately this approach is not the most feasible due to IT restrictions on server access and such.  Not that this is your fault - you get a star just the same.

I was hoping for some sort of undocumented export utility which I could run (or hack my way through) from VaultAdmin.

At this point it looks like an enhancement request and screen shots........
