(OP)
I am trying to set up a venue where Engineers (Professional and all other engineers) particularly from Ontario, Canada, can meet from time to time to videoconference. The first step will be to get two people videoconferencing, the second step will be to get more than two videoconferencing. My goal is to be able to set up a meeting for 3 to 5 engineers in my basement and invite others to participate by video or voice only conferencing. The best bets for software seem to be NetMeeting even with its current limitations to 2 people, and CUseeMe which seems to offer the ability to host a video conferences with up to 12 guests for $40 usd software. Guests could participate by installing a free plug-in. Minimum requirements are 56K connection, and a mike and speaker/headset that does not cause feedback. I plan to buy a Logitech Pro 3000 webcam and see if it will do the job. I am hoping that my Rogers Cable and Inspiron 5000 with Pentium 650 and 256 MB RAM will handle the job. The venue for the live guests would be my basement.
