locating a hole

locating a hole

I've extruded a cylinder around the origin & want to place a threaded hole at the origin. If I try to use the hole wizard it won't let me place the hole there. What's the easiest way to do that?

RE: locating a hole

1) Click on a surface, close to but not at the position you want the hole to be.
2) Click on the Hole Wizard icon. A point will be placed where you clicked on the surface.
3) Select your hole type & size.
4) Select the Position and deselect the Point icon.
5) Drag the original point to the position you want the hole to be.
6) Click on the green tick.

Thanks - that works.

RE: locating a hole

is this hole going on the cylindrical surface or on the end surfaces?  Also, what version and SP of SWx are you using?  I remember running into some problems putting thread holes on cylindrical surfaces with relations to the origin.  Otherwise just follow CBL's instructions

Never argue with an idiot. They'll bring you down to their level and beat you with experience every time.

RE: locating a hole

CBL is right- the key is to pick the surface first, and then start the hole wizard.  that issue drove me nuts for a while.
