Material from Sub-assy in draft

Material from Sub-assy in draft

Material from Sub-assy in draft

(OP)
The problem I have is that I can't figure out how to put a material in a sub-assy and make it show up in the material column on my BOM on the draft drawing.

Does anyone know how I can do this. I can't modify the BOM without unlinking it from the parts, so what I am to do?

Thanks

RE: Material from Sub-assy in draft

Hi,

an assembly itself has no material and therefore you can't
assign one to it. The reason is that it's made up by different
parts with different materials -- works as designed
When in V19 there is a workaround:

 - declare the sub-assy in question as weldement
 - assign a material to the bead property

This materal can be refernenced in BOM. With V18 it does not
work because the variable (Bead_Material that is) is missing

You could also place a non-graphic part in the assembly and have that part appear in the parts list.

Depending on if you do an atomic P/L or indented, you may have to adjust the occurrence properties of the other components.
