PDMWorks Advanced Server Triggers

PDMWorks Advanced Server Triggers

(OP)
Hello all,
I have been tasked to come up with a procedure to automatically generate PDF's of all our released drawings at the time we release them into PDMWorks. I know it can be done with the Advanced Server, which we have, using the trigger functionality. The problem is I don't know how to do it. I have no programming experience whatsoever and don't really know where to begin. Can anyone point me in the right direction as to what kind of programming is involved. Does this require and experienced programmer or is this someting that I would be able to learn by example? I am hoping someone here has existing code that I can change to fit our needs.

Any suggestions and help would be greatly appreciated.
peace

RE: PDMWorks Advanced Server Triggers

You'll probably need access to an experienced programmer, given the specific nature of your requirements.  Triggers are aptly named because they are triggered by specific events within PDMWorks, and the action they take is to run an application of your choosing, passing it certain variables as necessary.  I'm sure that is why the API is included with Advanced Server -- to help your custom or semi-custom app run in conjunction with PDMW.  The basic structure and flow of how triggers work can be found in the SolidWorks website examples.
