Item Balloons, Multibodies, Isometrics
Item Balloons, Multibodies, Isometrics
(OP)
I am trying to attach item balloons to a part on an exploded, isometric view of an assembly. Most of the time, the balloon yellows out, indicating that it is not attached to anything, even though the arrow is directly over the part.
The part is a multi-body, i.e. it is a bearing consisting of a race, balls and shields each modeled as separate bodies within the one part.
I am still on SW2003 SP5.0.
Is anyone else familiar with this? The part does itemize on at least one isometric view.

I have seen this and still occasionally see it on more current versions of SolidWorks. It seems to be a bug that has a workaround. Open up the part file in question that won't allow a balloon item to attach to it. Make the part config active used in the drawing view on your drawing. Press cntrl Q. Then open up the assembly that is being detailed on the drawing in question. Make the correct config active, the exploded config. Press cntrl Q. Go back to your drawing. You should now be able to select the item with a balloon. Usually this works for us...

The view is not in perspective.
The part is a configuration, as are each of my assembly drawing views. It is also a read-only catalogue part, and I have control over the active configuration.
I have no problems itemizing stuff like this on orthogonal and on section views. It is only a problem on the iso's, but that is where I want to do it.
