Anyone use Erodex DX1 input device?

Anyone use Erodex DX1 input device?

Anyone use Erodex DX1 input device?

(OP)
I just saw this input device last week. Looks like it’s been out for at least a year.

I got a system I’ve been using for 10 years that I really like and has kept my left hand busier than the mouse hand. But they quit making them 8 years ago and the ones I buy off ebay only last about 6 months. I’ve thought about getting an X-keys… but don’t see a comfortable configuration and again, if a key goes bad, what to do.

But this DX1 looks super. Set the keys any way you want. Got nice onscreen programming that is app specific. Buy extra keys if one goes bad…I’m apprehensive about a number of things though. Anybody got an opinion?

RE: Anyone use Erodex DX1 input device?

What is this system you are talking about?  It seems a lot of people like the Spaceball devices, have you looked at these?

RE: Anyone use Erodex DX1 input device?

For my money, I think I'd find a SpaceBall for my left hand and multi-button mouse for my right hand to be the best approach. To that I'd add  a few hot-keys programmed in to the keyboard.

Maybe i can glue a spacetraveler in the middle of it.

RE: Anyone use Erodex DX1 input device?

I've actually given that, gluing my CadMan, to the Ergodex pad.  The Cadman has only four buttons and, for reasons unknown to me, will not retain custom options through a shutdown.  So, in my twisted logic, I thought, for a 150$, I could have much more control and, hopefully, not lose my custom settings everytime I reboot.

I'd like to see one in person and see what sort of tactile feel the keys have as well as evaluate the overall quality of the Ergodex.

rltw,

Had a problem when I first started using my Cadman but a call to 3DConnexion tech support fixed it. Been using one at work and at home for about 3 years now.

Rltw… sounds like you know what I’m talking about. Get enough keys under your hands you hardly have to move the mouse. That’s been my answer to RSI. I’ve been looking for something like this DX1 for 15 years. I run acad a lot too and DX1 should work just as good with it.

Everybody seems to love the space ball. I’m thinking about it. I had no problem using mouse for viewing in IV. SW mouse wheel for pan and zoom has terrible performance in large assy or drw. Are the spacethings nice and smooth in the large file? Smooth like using SW native zoom & pan?

RE: Anyone use Erodex DX1 input device?

I also have used a trackball for years now, it really helps cut some of the time as well.

I seldom work with very large assemblies, so I can't speak about the 3D controllers in that instance.
