Code question for boiler feed water treatment piping

Code question for boiler feed water treatment piping

Code question for boiler feed water treatment piping

(OP)
When designing the piping for the treatment system for the boiler feed water (and domestic water as well) at a coal burning power plant, what piping code should be used?

It has been about 10 years since I have done anything like this.  Mostly been working on building service type piping.  I do not have ready access to the codes to check for applicability.

I am thinking it might be B31.1, but no sure it applies since the piping is not really part of the power generating system.  The plant is replacing the treatment system and we are designing the piping and layout from the well pumps to the storage tank which the boiler feed water is stored.

The reason I think it might be B31.1 is that we are thinking of using 6" stainless steel piping, due to flow rate and corrosion concerns, and using welded joints, except at valves and equipment, which would then be flanges.

Welding of 6" stainless steel is a little outside normal building service systems.

I would appreciate any guidance or possible direction which would be forthcoming.
