relationship conflicts

relationship conflicts

(OP)
When adding relationships to assemblies sometimes I get 'can't add relationship because of conflicting relationship' error but it doesn't list which parts or relationships are in conflict.  Is there a way to quickly find this confict or do I have to go back and test each part?

RE: relationship conflicts

Hi,

in case the conflict will spread, other parts are affected that is,
then those parts will show a red sign next to their icon but that
is not always the case. This warning will be issued when the
realtionsship you try to establish
 - would require other part(s) to change its position but this
is prevented by any relationship these parts already have
and the actual part can't change its postion to solve the
   relation. Example
the realtionship might require the other part to turn upside down
but it already has a fix mate relation to another part so the
conflict can't be solved neither by changing the postion of the
actual part nor by repostioning the other part.

 - would require to move this part but a realationship already
assigned does not allow this. Example
a part may have an axial relationship assigned. Now you try
to establish a fixed mate relationship to another part which
would require to move the part but the axial relationship will
prevent this and hence the conflict. Using the mate with float
instead of fixed would allow this relationship.

To fix the part in question you may use the 'Move part' function
on that part. Activate it and activate linear move. Then try to
move it in one of directions. If it follows the linear(!) move
that the part still has this degree of freedom. But don't forget
to press RESET before leaving the function otherwise the part will
stay at that place.

A part that is fully constrained but attached to another part
and that part still has 1 degree of freedom will show the icon
for an underconstrained part . i.e. a wheel fully constrained
to an axle but the axle is free to rotate then the wheel will
show the icon for an underconstrained part
